The figure is an extensive retool of the classic Iron Man armor that originally debuted as the 21st figure from the first series of figures. It was released in Wave 11, as part of the final wave of the "HAMMER Files" theming of the second series, and the final wave of 2010.
Released as part of the second series of Hasbro's Marvel Universe 3 3/4" scale action figures, Iron Man 2020 is the 33rd figure in the numbering. Marvel Universe Series 2 #033 - Iron Man 2020 (2010) Newly added with this figure, Arno also includes two larger blast pieces designed to peg into the bottom of his boots, and then further plug in to two large firey effect parts that can be combined into a base and is designed to replicate the appearance of flight. While these firing hands feature reduced articulation, they feature a peghole for the included repulsor blast effect pieces, all reused from the same 80th Anniversary Iron Man mold. He includes two sets of hands a pair of closed fists, and a pair of pre-posed Repulsor firing hands. The figure comes with noticeably more accessories than the average Marvel Legends figure. Arno is a retool of the 80th Anniversary Iron Man mold, featuring a new head sculpt, a new chest harness as a raised element connected to his large shoulder pieces, and a new belt all designed to closely replicate the original design from the art of Herb Trimpe from the original Machine Man miniseries that the character debuted in.
Iron Man 2020's debut figure in the Marvel Legends toyline was fittingly timed to release during the calendar year 2020 as an exclusive to Walgreens pharmacy stores. 3.1 Series 64 - Iron Man 2020 and Raging Ultron (2016).

This mainline Arno, believing that he was the only one who could save the world, stole his brother's company and armor, until Tony was able to trap him in a virtual reality world where he would be allowed to live as the hero he believed himself to be free of his medical ailments. While it was long believed that Arno existed only in these alternate timelines, Tony recently discovered the existence of an Arno within the mainline Marvel Universe as well the secret biological child of Howard and Maria Stark, contained permanently in a sealed room and iron lung to survive his health issues. He would later join Kang the Conqueror, who saved him from a timeline collapse, and joined a team to battle the Avengers. Over the years, Arno would continue to appear through time travel and multiverse crossovers, challenging characters from across the Marvel Universe, including fights with Death's Head and Spider-Man. When a group of young tech scavengers uncovered the remains of Machine Man and reactivated him, Arno was hired to destroy the revived hero - but was ultimately unable to do so. While Tony had used his armor for heroics, Arno preferred to use it to profit off of mercenary work or for corporate espionage to strengthen his business gains. A distant cousin of Tony Stark, Arno Stark became the inheritor of the Stark Industries legacy in alternate future of the cyberpunk year of 2020, where he took up the mantle of his predecessor's armor and became Iron Man 2020.
